Unit 3: Supermarkets

Supermarkets are an important part of daily life in Britain. Tesco is the biggest supermarket. It's got nearly 2.000 shops in Britain and is the third biggest supermarket in the world.
In the larger supermarkets you can buy just about anything.
The very big supermarkets are usually on the edge of towns and most people drive to them.
A lot of people now use online shopping.
Small shops in towns and villages are closing because supermarkets can sell the same things cheaper.
Many supermarkets are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. On Sundays shops can only open for 5 hours.

CATALONIA

Catalonia is one of the 17 regions of Spain. It occupies about one third of the total land area in Britain. Most people live in the cities. Barcelona, Tarragona and Lleida are the biggest cities in Catalonia. Catalonia is famous for the "pa amb tomata". Pa amb tomata is made from bread and tomatoes.




BRITAIN

Scotland is one of the four main regions of Britain. It occupies about one third of the total land area in Britain. Most people live in the cities. Edinburg and Glasgow has got some unusual traditions.
Scottish men sometimes wear a kilt rather than trousers. There is a traditional Scottish instruments called the bagpipes. Scotland is famous for its whisky. Wisky is a strong spirit made from barley, yeast and water.

Eighth % of all food and drinks comes from the five biggest supermarkets. Tesco has got nearly two thousand Britain. It is the third biggest supermarket in the world. Most people in Britain buy their clothes from two of the big supermarket.

Unit 2: Soap operas in Britain

Soap opera are so important in England. They usually talk about ordinary people, and they are usually three to five episodes each week.

Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale are all very popular soap operas on British TV. They appear several times a week and millions of people watch them.
Fans of the shows can also buy special soap opera magazines previews week. In the magazines, they can read every of the next week's shows.
